The Offing

offing press

Created in 2024, The Offing Press is an independent, non-profit publisher dedicated to design, art, theory, critique, and urban studies. Founded to bridge the gap between academic research and cultural critique for a wide readership, we strive to produce books that resonate through both content and form, raising vital cultural and socio-political questions.

Our approach centers on the three key phases of publishing: content creation and design, the act of publication, and post-publication engagement. We seek to bring the spirit of CARE to publishing, fostering collaborative and respectful relationships between editors, authors, and designers as well as ecological and ethical considerations in materials and partners. As a commons-inspired publisher, we are committed to maximizing access to knowledge and creativity—working under ‘creative commons’ whenever possible. To do this, we offer diverse formats for both printed and digital content, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.

The Offing Press proudly serves as the official publisher for the Experimental Observatory on Artistic Freedom (OoAF), furthering our mission to support critical discourse and creative exploration.

Voice Over Issues is an artist magazine created by Davo Liver as mean of dialogue (and crash-test) with the Council Of Europe at the end of 2020. Our first goal was to move the lines between the audiences, and put to the test an art based political thinking within a diplomatic political environment.
More than 50 international artist and thinkers have contributed since its first issue with Jimmie Durham.
